In fact, different team patches and different Gi colors are accepted. It is preferred that the Gi is IBJJF legal. If you don't have one, we can help you find the right one when you join.
Same applies for No-Gi uniforms. The only ask is that No-Gi uniforms do not include loose shirts, shorts with zippers or shorts with pockets to keep training partners safe.

Finding a gym where you feel comfortable as a beginner can be challenging. Our beginners classes are tailored to the absolute fundamentals of BJJ. We also make sure to pair beginners with more experienced practitioners as a way of walking them through the fine details of every instruction.

Some choose never to compete and still achieve a high level of competence. Some join with no intention to compete but later change their mind when they gain experience. Very few join with the intention to compete from the beginning.
The majority of Burlington BJJ students don't compete but we've also produced world champions. We're well versed to accommodate both.

Grading and promotion is purely merit based. Our quality standards are high. The criteria is based on the evolving library of BJJ techniques.
When you receive a belt promotion from Burlington BJJ you'll know that you received the promotion based on a quality standard that's well above average.
